📊 Sunlight by township (NASA POWER)
This is the real solar data our calculator uses — how much sunlight actually hits the ground each month, from NASA's satellite database. Pick a township to see its numbers.

Where does this data come from?
- The site calls NASA POWER (power.larc.nasa.gov), NASA's free global solar-radiation database.
- NASA uses satellites + a weather model (MERRA-2) to estimate all-sky surface irradiance (
ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN) — the sunlight that actually reaches the ground after clouds — for every point on Earth. - We send it the township's exact latitude & longitude, and it returns the monthly average in kWh/m²/day (a.k.a. peak-sun-hours).
- The calculator then multiplies that by your panel size & efficiency to estimate your electricity.
